January–Time to get going!

January is more than half over. The holiday train wreck has been cleared from the tracks, and I have no more excuses not to finish this novel.

By “finish,” of course, I mean complete the first draft from A to Z. (If only you could just write “the end” and then have a finished book!) I know exactly what needs to happen, I just have to type it out: an escape, a rescue, a flight, a couple of epic battles….

So, scene by scene, finish the story. Then go back and stitch up holes, smooth out transitions, add more descriptions to build up my imaginary world… and voila!

Wait, you might ask—what about the characters?

Well, the characters are all set.

After all, they’re the ones who got me into this mess in the first place!
